The Scottville Optimist Club was founded in 1953 and serves to support community and youth programs. Some of the Optimist Club's activities include:

  • Free Thanksgiving Dinner for area seniors for 37 years

  • Free lunch for Veterans

  • Alliance with the Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts

  • Hosting Track & Wrestling Meets

  • Sponsorships for many sports related youth activities

  • Teen Dances

  • High School essay contest that awards scholarships

  • Hosting free concerts and movies at the Scottville Clown Band Shell

  • Popcorn Wagon

  • Salvation Army Bell Ringers

  • Purchase, place, & maintain flags in downtown Scottville

  • Christmas party for area children

  • Optimist Hall- rentals at an affordable rate and location for community events such as the Red Cross Emergency Center and the Election Voting Center

  • Annual fundraising indoor yard sale


  • Annual Sportsman's Banquet


    The Scottville Optimist Club hosts it's annual Sportsman's Banquet each October at the Scottville Optimist Hall- 105 Green St.

    Tickets are typically $30 per adult, $15 for youth age 6-17, and free for kids under 6. Tickets include dinner, drinks (for adults), and an entry into the door prize drawing. Both adults and youth are encouraged to attend. There are special prizes for youth attendees. Tickets can be purchased at the following Scottville businesses: Charlie’s Bar, Squires Chiropractic, Holden’s Emporium and Smith & Eddy Insurance.

    The event also includes an 8-item big board with drawings all night and bucket drawings for over 50 special prizes.

    Rifle raffle tickets are also being sold at area Scottville businesses. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. You do not need not be present to win.

    Proceeds from the event help the Scottville Optimists continue their local community and youth programs.
