The Lighthouse triathlon takes place in August in downtown Ludington, where the Avenue ends right at the beach. Packet pick-up is the day before from 2pm-5pm, and the morning of the race from 6am-7:30am.The event is expected to bring in 400 athletes and 1,000 spectators. Participants can choose to enter the 1000m swim, 40k bike or 10k run....or the 500m swim, 20k bike and 5k run.
The Ludington area has the perfect setting for the triathlon, with its location right along Lake Michigan. Swimmers will enjoy the calm waters within the marina and along the breakwall to the lighthouse. Lakeshore Drive and Hamlin Lake provide a beautiful backdrop for both bikers and runners, as the course is relatively flat with little traffic.
